THE WATERSPORTS BASE BRINGS 2,000 CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS DOWN TO THE SEA

Almost 2,000 children and teenagers passed through Badalona marina’s Summer Watersports Base in July as part of the “Estiu amb Tu” municipal programme, doing watersports as activities included in their play schemes. In the mornings, from 9.30 to 1.30, the activities focused on taster sessions – light sailing, rowing, kayaking and paddle surfing – for organised groups from the different play schemes (as many as 20 organisations were involved). In the afternoons there were programmes to prepare over-16s for entrance exams for sailing and rowing instructor training scheduled for the first fortnight in October. The idea is to train young people from the city so they can be instructors next season. Activities begin again in October, with sailing courses for pupils from the Manuel Vázquez Montalbán Secondary School in Sant Adrià de Besòs.
